Abstract

Aphasia is an acquired language disorder resulting from damage to the brain. In some cases, patients are able to sing the verses of a song better than they would be able to read them. This fact generated several researches into the potentialities and deficits in the use of Melodic Intonation Therapy (MIT). From then on, several other questions were raised regarding MIT's musical and vocabulary content, giving rise to other approaches such as Thérapie Mélodique et Rythmée (TMR). Objectives: Find out how many more Latin-speaking countries researched the TRM. Method: Searches were carried out for terms in English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and French. Results: The search resulted in 16 related studies. Conclusions: TMR has been studied in several Latin languages such as French and Italian and has demonstrated good results, including when used in conjunction with software. Studies in Portuguese are still scarce.
