Abstract

Group instrumental teaching shows advantages such as democratization of the access to the information, interaction among students, playful environment, cooperation, motivation and so forth. The target of this study was to investigate the motivation to learn how to play guitar in-group. The methodology used was a small survey made by the use of a questionnaire. Twenty-one guitar students from an institution located in Curitiba (Brazil) took part in the research. The research participants were 12 male students and 7 female students, most from 9 to 14 years old. In this section, we present the results and discussions of the questions about students' motivation to learn guitar, their opinion about the group classes and about the class repertoire.
