This article investigates corporeality in piano practice through the lens of embodied and enactivist theories of cognition. An exploratory study (Gil, 2008; Gasque, 2007) was conducted via a literature review of works published in Brazil between 2013 and 2023 (Vieira et al., 2015; Cruz & Ferreira, 2023), highlighting studies examining bodily movement in piano practice. The identification of categories of investigative approaches guided a methodological refinement through interdisciplinary connections with the fields of embodied and enactivist musical cognition. These connections provide insight into the sensorimotor dimension of piano technique as intentional action, integrated with the perception of one’s own movements. The study emphasizes the sensory aspects of movement as they relate to the specificities of each musical practice within its sociocultural context.
